Creating a WordPress Blog

The first question that I have for you is do you know if you want the blog to be strictly informational or will you want to give your readers an opportunity to purchase things from you? WordPress.COM is a wonderful free site, offers many design templates to choose from, which are easily editable to include a one-of-a-kind look through an individual header. I will create that header for you.

WordPress.ORG has an ecommerce plug-in that will adapt your site to being an online shop. However there are minimal fees associated with using WordPress.org. Bluehost is an example of a hosting site that promises your own domain name and will host for only $6.95 a month & it is formatted for easy WordPress.org installation. For $1.00 you can monetize your site with adsense on WordPress.ORG and may end up generating income provide you get hits.

Along with this service will be a personal tutorial on easily adding content, so you get it all. I will set up your own website, individualize it with a personal header and tutor you on easy to perform actions that will give you the tools necessary to become self-reliant.

I recently spoke with a gentleman in his eighties, who found it difficult to leave his home. He was sharp, cultured, well-traveled and interested in keeping contact with his friends, his community and being of service. He confided to me, “You just have no idea how much I hate the internet and this computer.”

I wanted to reassure him. I knew the internet was his gateway to a life from which he felt separated, but I was hesitant to challenge him.

You see, for me the internet is practically magic and nearly free. If I plan to visit Laytonville, perhaps for free, just in time to catch Earthdance, then the internet is my connection. I can even learn a few dance moves so I’ll be ready when I get there!

Okay, the internet is NEVER going to be magical enough to help me to dance as well as the boy in the video, but if I can pay a visit to the Louvre without going to Paris, wearing my feet out, dealing with lines, worrying about money or feeling shame over my inability to parlez-vous français, then why shouldn’t I step into that world? More importantly, why not invite others to come along?
